FDNY firefighters will raise the spirits of the survivors of the Little Sioux tornado as they work shoulder-to-shoulder with Scouts and their families to rebuild the camp and erect a Chapel on September 3-6, 2009.
We will be holding a Tigers to Troops event October 16-18. This is a combined Cub and Boy Scout event. It will be a great chance for Packs to find out what Troops are all about, and for Troops to connect with their prospective members. Contact Mel Clark for more details.
Scouting is a 12-month program, so don’t forget to plan activities for the summer months. Your Den and Pack can earn the National Summertime Award by 50% of the boys participating in at least one activity a month during June, July and August. You still have time to get in you August activity! For more details see the application at the Scout office.
Simplify life by signing up for FAST TRACKS, and keep your Cub Scouts active, interested, learning and having fun for the year! Packs using FAST TRACKS have found that more Scouts advance and stay in Scouting than those who have not yet started to use this great tool. FAST TRACKS will soon replace the Program Helps booklet. Let’s make things easier this fall. All Cub Scout Pack recruiting nights will be held during the week of September 7-10. This coordinated effort will have us in all our Packs’ schools to promote Scouting the week prior, and we will no longer be trying to chase after recruiting for months.
Contact Membership Chair Dan Henderson at scouter.danhenderson@mac.com to find out more information on how we will help you to recruit more Scouts and Leaders in a shorter amount of time!
Join us August 14-16 at Camp Cedars for the 2009 OA Summer Conclave. See the Bugle for more information.
Everyone should now be family with entering all of the Scout’s advancement online. The site is linked on the MAC website www.mac-bsa.org. All units are encouraged to have all their records updated monthly and a copy submitted to the Mid America Council for your unit’s permanent file. If you have any questions, please contact Jay Witty or call 431-9BSA.
Eagle projects must be approved by the District project coordinator before you start work on the project. Our District project coordinator is Tim Robertson. He can be contacted at 731-5001 or oa97tim@cox.net. You must schedule a review meeting with Mr. Robertson at least two weeks before you plan to start your Eagle Project.
Your Youth Protection training must be renewed every 2 years. Training is available on line at www.mac-bsa.org or by contacting Ray Ramirez at 573-5237 or lewisandclark.training@yahoo.com.
