Serving Scout leaders in Eastern Omaha and the Ralston and LaVista areas

2010 March

Please Welcome

Let's all give a warm welcome to Lewis Clark's new District Executive, Dan Sanderson. Dan is an Eagle Scout from Kansas, and will help to lead our District to Quality and Excellence in 2010!

A Big Thank You!

HUGE congratulations and thanks are in order to Jeff White and his Committee for a tremendous celebration on February 8, 2010. Over 260 Scouts, Scouters and family members joined us at St. Gerald's in Ralston, to celebrate Scouting's 100th birthday. They were joined by the Mayors of Omaha, Ralston, LaVista and Papillion. We heard from Distinguished Eagle Scouts Dr. Jay Graves and Hal Daub. Some lucky Scouts won FREE camping at Cub Camps, Cedars and ScoutQuest. We shared some great birthday cake! What a great way to kick off the 2nd Century of Scouting in America!

District Dinner

The Lewis and Clark District Dinner will be held on Saturday, April 24th at Ralston High School. We are in need of photographs to highlight the 2009 Scout year. Please save your photos to a CD and contact Jane O'Connor for pick-up. Contact Jane at 556-2660 or email oconner3@cox.net for more details. PLEASE do not email photos.

Leave No Child Inside

Q: What's the best thing about Scouting? A: CAMPING! Get off the couch and enjoy the great outdoors! We have so many great camping opportunities this year, from Jamboree, Jubilee, to themed camps, to just a few members of a Boy Scout Troop patrol going out and doing some patrol Camping. Just get out and camp! For answers to your camping questions, please contact Camping Chair Mel Clark at joker5643@hotmail.com or Bill Stott at bstott@thearchitecturaloffices.com for more information.

Spring Into Scouting

With Spring in the air, it's time to recruit some Tiger Cubs! Get them started right by planning a great year with the Ideal Year of Scouting planning Guide, and get them out to a Camp! Help them invite all their friends and begin their trail to Eagle early!

Spring Camporee

Spring is just around the corner! Even though that may seem like a dream, Spring Camporee is at Little Sioux Scout Ranch, April 9th to 11th! Come join the competition, fun and fellowship with all our Lewis Clark Troops. Bring all your Scouts to the Order of the Arrow Callout, and let's enjoy the beginnings of Spring. New Ranger Doc Schaefer informs us that there should be less than 4 feet of snow by then...

2010 Camping

Jubilee, Theme camps, Overnight Camps - there will be TONS of fun this summer. For answers to your camping questions, please contact Camping Chair Mel Clark joker5643@hotmail.com or Camporee Chief Bill Stott bstott@thearchitecturaloffices.com for more information.

Why Roundtable?

Why Not? At our monthly Roundtable, you get to talk with Scouters from all across our District, many of whom have experience which can help you solve your most pressing issues. You get to find out all the great new activities, games, tips, etc. which will keep your Scouts asking for more. For more information on Roundtable, please contact our Commissioner Vicki Benes at 597-5082 or Victoria_benes@ralstonschools.org. For Boy Scout Roundtable, please contact Kent Dawson at 293-5960 or tatonkakmd@gmail.com.

Cub World is Coming in Spring 2010
