Serving Scout leaders in Eastern Omaha and the Ralston and LaVista areas

2009 March

Thanks

Thanks for turning in contact information for who will be coordinating your FOS presentations, Scouting for Food and Camping options for 2009. Helping us get that early reduces last minute calls to arrange all the details

OA Elections

All Troops should have their O/A unit elections scheduled by now.  If you have not, please see Chapter Chief Will Stott or adviser Randy Yates. Call out will be held at the Spring Camporee.

Spring Camporee

Join us April 17th – 19th at Camp Cedars for our Spring Camporee.  We will have a morning full of our traditional events and an afternoon of patrol competitions including a tower building contest and patrol trebuchet shoot-off.

Citizenship in the Nation Merit Badge Workshop

Invite your Scouts to meet U.S. Senator Ben Nelson, Congressman Lee Terry, and Omaha Mayoral candidate Hal Daub. The workshop is on March 7th from 10:30 am to 3:00 pm at the Omaha Children’s Museum, 500 S 20th St. Omaha, NE 68102.  The cost is $15 per Scout and $10 per adult (PIZZA lunch included). Space is limited. Reserve your spot with Clarissa Conolley at cconolley@mac-bsa.org

Calling All Scouts (Past and Present)

The Boy Scouts of America has launched the BSA Alumni Connection program in an attempt to reconnect with millions of Scouting alumni across the United States, in time for them to participate in the organization's 2010 centennial celebration. The BSA is inviting not just former Scouts, but anyone who has been impacted by Scouting, to reconnect through BSA Alumni Connection (www.BSAalumni.org).

Scouting for Food

Our annual Scouting for Food drive drop off is March 28th and pick up is April 4th.  This year we will have door hangers instead of plastic bags asking people to place donated food on their front step.

Pinewood Derby

Why race those Pinewood Derby cars only once.  There are two more great races available.  The Small Pack race is Sunday, March 29th at St. Mathews at 60th and Walnut.  The other is the Metro Race that will be held on May 17th.
